We started in business in the emerging heating, air conditioning and refrigeration markets that took off after World War II by offering propane and compressed welding and cutting gases in cylinder form to homes and business, in and around North Collins, NY. In the early days of our industry there was no such thing as bulk propane delivery. It was all delivered to commercial and residential customers in the form of cylinders, primarily 100 lb. cylinders. At that time the majority of propane that we sold was used for hot water and cooking applications. Home heating was predominantly fueled by either coal, heating oil, kerosene, or wood. In the early days of air conditioning and refrigeration, propane was also used as a coolant, prior to the advent of freon. Designated as R290, it remains, to this day, an environmentally friendly hydrocarbon alternative to freon, with certain restrictions.
Today we still offer propane in portable cylinders for grills and recreational uses, but in addition, we also offer a very comprehensive compressed gas product mix for welding and cutting applications.

We offer all these gas products in various tank sizes, and in either monthly, yearly, or 10-year tank lease programs. When a tank empties out, simply bring it in and we’ll exchange it for the identical size and contents, and you’re on your way.
Cylinder Recharge and Recertification Services
Contrary to what you may think, compressed gas cylinders are not indestructible. They occasionally need to be inspected for safety and compliance reasons. After all, they are high-pressure vessels. A full oxygen tank, for example, typically reads about 2000 psi. A steel tank will rust, leak and they get banged around on the back of trucks and in shops on carts. Service valves can also cause a problem by leaking or becoming inoperable and need to be replaced. It’s a good practice to occasionally inspect every cylinder in your possession, looking for obvious defects, and to check the collars of the tank for certification dates that are usually stamped into the tank itself.
In addition to recharging (refilling) if you are enrolled in our cylinder lease program, we take care of all the maintenance concerns. You’ll never have to worry about receiving a cylinder in exchange that is out of test or unsafe in any manner. We can also have most customer-owned cylinders recertified and refurbished for safe operation, prolonging their useful life.
NORCO also knows that cutting torches and regulators need to be repaired, on occasion. Although we don’t do the actual repair of torches and regulators on site, we work with partners in the industry that have the know-how to make the repair and get your cutting components back on the job as quickly as possible.
Some other services we offer include CO2 “Paintball” gun tank refills on site and refills of larger CO2 cylinders, up to 15 lbs. used for beverage/fountain drink systems like soda/pop or beer.
